Temporary cooling provided for cinema during mall expansion

A mall in Dubai was recently being expanded to add more shops, restaurants & entertainment area. During this process, the main contractor approached Andrews Sykes and asked us to provide temporary cooling to the cinema while they rerouted the existing ductwork and chiller piping during the alterations.

Andrews Sykes provides 2 x 100kW Chillers & 4 x 50kW air-handlers to our Contractor while the above work commenced. This lasted for 3 months until the permanent work was complete. We worked closely with HVAC Contractor, Client, Consultant, Project Management and Main Contractor to ensure the smooth transition of the overhauling of mall. read more

One of our clients, who specialize in high-end internal fit-outs, approached us to support them with wild air-cooling. They wanted to maintain the temperature below 28 degree Celsius and 50% relative humidity during summer to ensure that the area remained cool and dry before the permanent chillers & air-handlers were commissioned in the shopping mall. After consulting with our clients, we learnt that one of the most important requirements is speed during emergency breakdowns or equipment failure. With this in mind, we added the new 9.5TR Crane & Truck (commonly also referred to as a HIAB truck).

Our new loader crane & truck allows us to load large equipment such as 100TR chillers units, 25TR Package AC units, dehumidifiers, industrial ventilation fans and generators without having to use an additional crane. Andrews Sykes Climate Rental had a chance to help out the musicians who were performing at an event in Abu Dhabi, UAE. During the practice sessions, the musicians realized that due to low humidity and cold temperatures, the stringed instruments were being affected.

Stringed instruments are made out of wood, which attracts and absorbs moisture from the atmosphere. When moisture is absorbed, it tends to swell, and when it releases moisture into dry and cold air, it tends to shrink. Andrews Sykes Climate Rental was contracted as the cooling partner for the marquee tents at a prestigious event which recently was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The event was scheduled in its huge signature white tent also known as the Big Top, which was approximately 35 meters high, which is close to a 10-storey building. The show comprised of a grand performance with 41 exotic horses and 36 aerial and acrobatic performers from all over the world giving a tribute to Abu Dhabi’s history and divine culture of the emirate.
